PALS-Rutgers in collaboration with the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology is delighted to host twenty students from Jilin University, China. The exchange program is the first collaboration between Jilin University and Rutgers. Students participating in this program receive intensive English instruction while also working towards undergraduate credits in the Chemistry Department at Rutgers University.
For the first two months of their seven month stay, program participants receive intensive language instruction that enables them to be acclimated to the American environment. Students also participate in sports day activities and present on Chinese culture during PALS culture events.
Beyond the initial two months, students participate in English for Academic Purposes instruction to strengthen their ability to participate in a Rutgers University undergraduate classroom.
In this first collaboration, participants have expressed their experiences positively and Rutgers-PALS looks forward to hosting future students from the Jilin-Rutgers Chemistry Exchange Program.
