PALS-Rutgers is delighted to host a group of 12 English teachers from the prefecture of Fukui, Japan for a summer training program.
Participants in this program are selected by the Fukui Board of Education and represent English language teachers through out its perfecture. This summer program has three major objectives - enhancement of English language proficiency; professional development in current TEFL methodology and experiencing American Culture. The first cohort of teachers was hosted at PALSs from July 29 to August 25, 2012.
Fukui Prefecture is a prefecture of Japan located in the Chūbu region on Honshū island. Its capital is the city of Fukui. The city of New Brunswick has a very special relationship with Fukui as the first Japanese student to study at Rutgers came from Fukui in the nineteenth century. Since then, the city of New Brunswick has sustained its relationship with Fukui through various projects. PALS-Rutgers is pleased to participate in this tradition through the Fukui Board of Education summer training program.
