Discovering America

Discovering America is an enriching program for students to develop their language outside of the classroom. Our students make lasting connections, learn about each other, and explore the history and cultural practices.

The Discovering America experience is a team effort of students and teachers learning together. The variety of trips during the session provides opportunities to actively engage with American customs, past times and history. This program builds a unique language experience that goes beyond the classroom. While at locations like NYC, students are not mere spectators, but active participants, becoming part of the experience, as they shape new perspectives and expand their language skills. All of this allows them to interact with the community and gain hands-on learning opportunities.

Highlights from past trips include Rutgers, Princeton, and an excursion to the Brooklyn Bridge. Trips range from historical to arts, music, and sports. The variety of locations and enriching activities allow students to link academics with exploration. Participation in Discovering America has led to growing student sense of community, self-expression, and progress in confidence as speakers of English.
